About Bonita Stamper

All children need love and care for their development, which begins in their mothers’ wombs. Bonita Stamper is a mother of many; after having one biological child and adopting fourteen children, she continues to support children from vulnerable communities. Her story is full of hope, inspiration, and compassion, which goes back to her experiences growing up. Today, Bonita cares for children whose future is threatened by childhood challenges, similar to her challenges growing up.

After losing her father at an early age, Bonita was raised by her mother, and she faced challenges, which became her inspiration to serve others later in life. Bonita spent more time with her grandparents, who significantly influenced her belief system and the depth of the body of Christ, while her mother worked in a Florida Citrus Plant. When she was 12, Bonita would babysit children in the neighborhood, and her compassion and love for children grew tremendously.
Bonita pursued a career aligned with her ambition of helping and caring for vulnerable children. In the 1990s, Bonita became a medical coordinator and served in a shelter hosting neglected and abandoned children. At the shelter, Bonita cared for children born with developmental issues and those addicted to drugs. The instant connection with the children inspired Bonita to adopt and offer a child a home. In 1999, Bonita became a licensed therapeutic foster parent and focused on helping children with psychosis and other mental health issues. She adopted two girls, and later realized that one of the girls didn’t have the mindset to open her heart and to allow room to build relationship. Bonita was committed to turning this child’s potential into purpose.
When adopting an older child, relationship challenges are common. Many adoptive parents have inadequate information and resources to address many challenges when caring for a child that has been hurt. Bonita found that trauma was a leading cause of developmental issues among children. Some trauma occurs while in their mother’s womb, and it becomes a permanent imprint that adversely affects children’s development. Bonita established that one of the adopted daughters had a difficult birth, which manifested in developmental challenges later in life. A mother’s stress during pregnancy impacts neurodevelopment and this affects different children in different ways.
Bonita’s personal experiences when growing up and caring for her adopted daughters pushed her to start an organization and reach out to more struggling children and their families. She started Heart to Heart International to have a wide outreach to vulnerable children. The organization focuses on empowering parents and helping them better understand their children’s needs. Also, it offers adoption strategies and frameworks for transitioning children from foster care and orphanages in other countries to their new homes when adopted. The organization is focused on helping parents establish healthy relationships with their adopted children.

MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to inspire and empower the lives of children by eradicating obstacles,
strengthening their resolve, and creating lasting solutions for moral strength and integrity.

WE BELIEVE
…God inspires the Scriptures and declares His design and plan for humanity.
…There is only One True God–revealed in three persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
(commonly known as the Trinity).
…In the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son, Jesus was both human and divine.
…though originally good, Man Willingly Fell to Sin–ushering evil and death, both physical
and spiritual, into the world.
…Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God through ‘Salvation’ (trusting Christ,
through faith and repentance, to be our personal Savior).
… In Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of
salvation, and Holy Communion as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death
for our salvation.

“For I know the thoughts I think towards you,” says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil,
to give you a future and hope.”
